A short while ago I was at a local fast food drive-thru and was helped by a nice young woman (teenage-ish).
Recently I went through the same drive-thru and was helped by the same young teen. Only this time she had significantly more makeup on. I was very close to telling her that she looked better without the makeup but decided not to say anything (I didn't want to be a creeper). But this really got me thinking and I asked myself, "Why do some girls wear so much makeup?"
Now I understand that not every girl is the same and that not all girls wear a lot of makeup. Maybe it's just me or maybe other guys feel the same way, but to me..the less makeup..the better. I'm not saying makeup is a terrible thing and you should throw all of it out. When I see a girl with an excessive amount of makeup on I feel sad that perhaps that girl is really self conscious about her looks and feels like she needs to cover who she really is. I know it's not just girls and some guys are really self conscious about how they look and that self image can really consume someone. Male and Female.
I don't want to blame society or the media that we have poor images of ourselves but they certainly don't help. When God created us he didn't say it was "kinda good". He created us in his image and that means we don't need to cover up who we are to fit in to what every one else says is beautiful.
If you are a guy and your in a relationship or married. Tell her she is perfect without makeup (and mean it, not just because I said so). If you are a single guy, check yo' self before you wreck yo'self! Focus less on finding a girlfriend and focus more on working on who you are. That way when you do find an awesome girl you can treat her like an awesome guy would. I'll be honest, too often have I focused on being in a relationship and not focused on working on myself. I trust God will help with the relationship thing, but I gotta do my part first.
Girls. What I'm trying to say in this blog is...don't hide. don't cover up who you are. God created you in his image. Celebrate that you are perfect to Jesus!
Until we meet again..
